Cesc Fábregas has said he intends to continue "living a dream" at Barcelona rather than pursue a return to the Premier League with Manchester United.

The former Arsenal midfielder has been touted as a showcase signing for David Moyes at Old Trafford, with the former United defender Denis Irwin claiming the Premier League champions would "move heaven and earth" to sign the 26-year-old this summer.
But Fábregas, who is with Spain for the Confederations Cup in Brazil, told the Spanish radio station Onda Cero: "It's fascinating how some people can invent these things, I've never opened my mouth about this. I'm very happy. It's taken a lot to get where I am and I don't plan on throwing that away for anything.

"The truth is if I didn't feel I was wanted it would be different, but I haven't been told anything. I'm very happy. The truth is I want to triumph with Barcelona. I'm living a dream, it was my dream since I was a child and I would like to fulfil that by working hard."

Fábregas moved to Barcelona in 2011 but endured a difficult time last season when played out of position and was criticised by the club's supporters. "The public is boss," he added. "If they whistle, I'll have to put up with it. I was the first to know that Barça would be the most important challenge of my life. I just want to play. Barcelona is my home, I've always dreamed of triumphing here.
"I know there are some people who don't like how I play, but these are challenges in my life, and it must make me stronger and let me know I still have a lot to improve if I will be able to succeed in this team. The most important thing is to face every good and bad moment as they come. But it's true there have been some games when I wasn't OK, for example the one against Bayern Munich. You have to accept the supporters' opinions. Then I just have to keep fighting so I can be wanted."
United, meanwhile, have completed the first signing of the Moyes era by securing the Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela on a five-year contract. The 20-year-old agreed to the move from Peñarol last week and will join up with the United squad following Uruguay's participation in the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey this month.
