Video: Javier Mascherano shown red after kicking driver of medical buggy

Javier Mascherano was sent off last night in Argentina's 1-1 draw last night with Ecuador - for kicking the driver of a medical buggy that was stretchering him off the pitch.
The bizarre incident occurred in the 86th minute when the Barcelona man required some medical attention. Having been placed on the buggy, he was being taken from the pitch when one of the Ecuador players appeared to squirt water in his direction.
According to reports Mascherano asked the buggy driver to stop - and when he didn't the former Liverpool ace decided to kick him twice.
That of course earned him a red card from the referee - something which seriously angered the 29-year-old.
Argentina played out the last few minutes to earn the draw, which keeps them top of their group as they look to secure qualification for the 2014 World Cup.

Update: Mascherano has apologised for his actions. He said: "One preaches non violence in our country and in this I was mistaken. My reaction was not justified.”
“I feel ashamed. I don’t like to generate controversy. And I am big enough to admit my mistakes. This embarrasses me. Saddens me.”
He went on to explain: “The stretcher buggy was going too fast and I was about to fall. I warned him (the driver) and he ignored me, but what I did was not justified.”
